Welcome to the 1927 – 700+ seat historic Capitol Theatre nestled in the heart of beautiful downtown Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Capitol Theatre is the showpiece of the Capitol Theatre Center in Franklin County, PA midway between Gettysburg, PA and Hagerstown, MD. Each year, thousands of patrons of all ages enjoy live shows and movie events in this grand, spectacular setting.
Just being in the theatre is an experience in and of itself as guests are swept up by the grand style and architectural detail of an era gone by. The theatre’s extra features include: a beautiful lobby, concession and bar area, wheelchair ramp entrance, coat room, elevator, and lovely mezzanine. With the historic main stage and auditorium as its featured attraction, Capitol Theatre Center is also home to the Wood Center Stage Theatre, a dramatically beautiful multi-purpose space available to rent for theatrical, corporate, and social events.
Capitol Theatre Center operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit in Chambersburg and presents international and national touring live shows and concerts, as well as showcases regional and local talent, movie events, and outdoor events. It is also rented for productions performed by other organizations including: resident cultural arts tenants, Chambersburg Community Theatre and Chambersburg Ballet.
